Tsavo National Park is Kenya's largest game park and also one of the world's largest game sanctuaries. It is located in the south of the country and has two large rivers and several swamps hence attracting large numbers of wildlife.
Some of the animals you will find here include Hippos, Crocodiles, Lions, Leopards, Waterbucks, Kudus, Zebras, Ostriches and many more.
There is also great accommodation for visitors in several lodges and camps around the game park. These lodges have many facilities like swimming pools, bars and clubs.
The National park is divided into Tsavo West and Tsavo East. Tsavo West game park is dry and infested by tsetse flies. There are however two permanent rivers that provide water to the animals. These rivers originate from Mount Kilimanjaro and Mzima Springs.
Tsavo West Game Park is home to large herds of elephants and rhino. Other animals living in here include fringed-eared oryx, the gerenuk, the kudu and hyenas.
Another attraction to enjoy is the beautiful landscape itself. The park is full of acacia trees, miniature baobab and flowers which radiate great beauty.
Tsavo East Game Park is larger than Tsavo West, but only a small part of it is open to the public. The rest provides a sanctuary for animals. Many people come here to see the Yatta Plateau, one of the world's longest lava mountain range.
You will also get a chance to see crocodiles relaxing on the banks of Lugard Falls on the Galana river. Other animals you can find here are zebra, antelopes, kudu, hartebeest, warthog, ostrich and elephants.
