Nairobi is Kenya’s capital city, it's largest city and also its commercial and travel center. Most of the country’s commercial and travel activity occurs in Nairobi.

Most Travelers from abroad arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, then head straight to Nairobi for accommodation, entertainment and business.

Nairobi is a well developed and modern city, with facilities comparable to the most advanced cities of the world. You'll find great accommodation, entertainment centers, restaurants, Internet access and other modern conveniences.

While there are parts of the city that are great, there are other dangerous slum areas that one should avoid especially at night.

Tourists arriving in Nairobi can go to the nearby Nairobi National Park to see all manner of interesting wildlife. Some of the animals you will find here include lions, giraffes, impalas and many bird species.

Visit the Giraffe Center in Langata suburb to see the nearly extinct Rothschild giraffe. The Karen Blixen House, a cultural museum is also nearby.

Bomas of Kenya is a place you would like to visit to learn about Kenyas rich Culture. There are year round performances of traditional songs and dances from all Kenyan tribes..

There is great accommodation in the city to suit all budgets, tastes and interests. You'll find many hotels, guesthouses, serviced apartments and hostels to serve your needs.

If you love camping, visit the Nairobi National Park or the Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park, both of which have great camping facilities..

While in Nairobi City try using the popular Matatu, customized minivans to transport you around. They are a fun way to travel with good music to keep you entertained.

Taxis are also widely available. They are usually not metered, so be careful to agree on the fare with the taxi driver before using it. Nairobi taxis are either normal cars marked with a yellow line on the side of the car or large black London style taxis.

For the adventure loving travellers, try the Tuk Tuk, a three wheeled motorized rickshaws taxis.

There are many Museums in Nairobi where you can learn about Kenya’s history and culture. Kenya National Archives is another interesting place to see Kenya’s arts, handicrafts and historical documents and photos.

Visit the Railway Museum to learn about Kenya's railway industry. They display the old steam engines built in the 1920’s and other information and pictures.

Nairobi has a vibrant nightlife too. There are many theatres, casinos, bars, clubs and discos that remain open all night. Once a month, club houses hold "cultural nites" featuring traditional music, foods and drinks from all Kenyan communities.
