Nairobi National Park is only 20 minutes away from Kenya's capital city of Nairobi. It's the closest game park to the city and ideal for people wanting to see Kenya's Animals but don't want to travel far into the Wilderness.
Because of its close proximity to Nairobi City, it gets a lot of visitors, both foreign and local.
You can find most Kenya Animal species here except the Elephant. There are leopards, lions, buffalo, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, wildebeest, elands, zebras, Thompson gazelles and many others.
At the west end of the park is an Animal Orphanage that takes care of young injured animals found in the wild. This is a modern facility where scientists study these animals. When the Animals recover, they are returned to the wild.
The park has about 400 species of permanent and migrant birds living there at different times of the year.
Nairobi National Park is also the most successful of Kenya's rhino sanctuaries, producing many Rhino births in captivity and helping stock other national parks with these rare animals.
The other big attractions at Nairobi National Park include the Lone Tree and the Nature Trails for hiking and walking.
The park is very close to the City and hence has no accommodation facilities. Everyone is expected to find accommodation in the city.
There are many Picnic Sites however. These include the Impala Observation Tower, Ivory Burning Site, King Fisher Gorge, Leopard Cliffs, Mokoiyet pool and Hippo Pool.
