Kenya is home to Mount Kenya, the second highest Mountain in Africa. For mountain climbing enthusiast, you will get great opportunity to climb Mt. Kenya while on your safari. Mountain climbers are normally grouped into more than three-person team with experienced, professional mountaineers who provide training to help the climbers acclimatize to the high altitude. It is advisable to train climbing on a minor peak before going up Nelion or Batian, the highest peaks.

Tour companies offer excellent guiding on most routes as part of the mountain climbing package whose cost also includes hotel stay, Food, Park Fees, climbing and cooking gear, Porters and ground transportation to the mountains. The training program includes training for endurance, strength and rock climbing techniques. Activities like running, cycling, and swimming are also helpful for physical conditioning. The months of December through March usually have the best weather for climbing the mountain. Most Mountain climbing tour operators advice one to get insurance in case there is an accident. |
