Bungee jumping involves jumping from bridges or towers with your ankles attached to a long rubber bungee cord, then plunging in a freefall for about 50 meters until the bungee cord breaks your fall.
Kenya is a popular destination for adventure seekers. There are many adventure activities including bungee jumping that is traditionally practiced by many Kenyan youngsters. This tradition combined with tourist demand for adventure helped create East Africa's first Bungee Jumping operation on the banks of Tana River.
There are many Bungee jumping events, locally known as Bungeewalla that offer exciting and high adrenaline jumps at the campsites of Tana River. At the same location, one can also participate in White Water Rafting.
The newest bungee facility in Kenya is on a specially constructed 60 meter tower over the Tana River. Jumpers climb the tower attached to a safety rail and once at the top, they are fitted with the bungee cord and then take the plunge over the rushing waters of Tana river.
