This is usually made with potatoes, maize and beans cooked together and then mashed in a pot with a pestle to form a uniform paste like food which is very sweet to taste.

Kuku (Chicken)

Chicken is a popular dish especially in the western part of Kenya. Due to the low supply of chicken, unlike in western countries, chicken is regarded as a delicacy in many Kenya communities and cooked only on special occasions.

Mchele (Rice)

Rice is also a popular dish in Kenya, eaten in almost all parts of Kenya. At the coastal region, they cook rice with coconut to make a delicious dish called Wali.

Kachumbari

Kachumbari is used as an appetizer and is eaten along with a main dish, especially roast meat called Nyama Choma.

Kachumbari is made from a mixture of chopped raw tomatoes, onions, pepper and parsley.

Nyama Choma (Roast Meat)

Roast meat or Nyama Choma is a very popular dish in Kenya where beef and goat meat is more readily available and cheaper than chicken. Meat is cut into manageable chunks and roasted over open fire similar to barbeque.

You will find many men in bars at night after work enjoying Nyama Choma with Ugali and downing it with a bottle of beer.
