Kenya Canoeing & Kayaking
Canoeing in Kenya is a great way to get close to the wildlife without the hassles a vehicle. You cannot canoe in some locations due to dangers from hippo and crocodiles but there are great places to canoe in the Rift Valley lakes. |
Lake Baringo has great opportunities to canoe along with local fishermen, learning about their culture and fishing techniques while Lake Naivasha also offers canoe trips to the wonderful Crescent Island bird Sanctuary.

Being a great destination for water sports, Kenya holds several Rowing and Canoeing Championships at the Masinga Dam and on Tana River on the Kenyan Coast.
Teams from many African Countries like Egypt, Nigeria and the Seychelles compete with local teams like the Kenyan Navy team.

For anyone who enjoys kayaking and canoeing, a trip to Kenya offers boundless possibilities, both along the coast and on inland waterways. Most of the Kenya coastline is sheltered by protective reef, making calm conditions ideal for sea kayaking.
