Bird Watching paradise Kenya has excellent places to watch birds of all types and also give you an opportunity to sharpen your bird shooting skills. Bird watching and bird shooting season runs twice a year, from September to October and February to March prior to the rainy seasons when most game birds breed. |
A normal shooting day begins in the mornings when the sky is filled with hundreds of Sand Grouse birds going to drink water in the river. They are then usually followed by guinea fowl, spur fowl and yellow-necked francolin.

The most popular venues for Bird Shooting are Ol Donyo Waus in the beautiful Chyulu Hills and Chalbi Desert in Northern Kenya.
At these venues, you will have access to excellent lodges which also offer guests the opportunity to enjoy horse riding, fly-camping and participation in game drives.
In some other bird shooting venues, camps are usually set up under shady, picturesque acacia trees. One of my favorite sites is near the Amboseli national park, where you will also enjoy fine views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
There is also anaburdant opportunity to watch wild game like giraffe, impala, zebra and wildebeest.
For a successful safari in these areas, you will need an experienced guide to show you around. You should also adhere strictly to hunting limits to maintain good relations with both the Kenya wildlife department and the indigenous Masai people.
