The National Park has 5 main wildlife habitats; open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland. There is also a temporary lake, Lake Amboseli on the Amboseli basin that fills up during the rainy seasons.

Amboseli is famous for its big game and its great scenic beauty with the landscape is dominated by Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Climate:Amboseli’s climate is mainly hot and dry, a strange thing given it's close proximity to Mt. Kilimanjaro. The warmest temperatures are around 91°F (33°C) during the day and the coldest is 80°F (27°C) at night.
Rains come in two seasons; From April to May and from November to December.
Getting there:Roads: The main roads to the Park are from Nairobi through Namanga (150 miles or 240 km) and from the Nairobi - Arusha Road through Meshanani Gate.
Airstrips: The park has a single airstrip for light aircraft at Empusel gate. Other airstrips exist at Kilimanjaro Buffalo lodge and Namanga town.
Park Roads: Used while viewing animals cover the park adequately, although they become very dusty sometimes. But this is part of the safari experience.
Major attractionsThe major attractions on the Amboseli are watching Wildlife, viewing Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru and meeting the Masai people and learning their culture and indigenous lifestyle.
